Framing Britney Spears didn’t really uncover anything new for those who have been following the pop star’s confusing conservatorship for the last few years. However, it has stirred up anger in many people who are upset with the way the media treated the singer when she was a young mom clearly crying out for help and privacy.

The documentary did an amazing job of highlighting just how cruel everyone from reporters to journalists to talk show hosts were  when Britney was in the thick of her mental health troubles.

Sarah Silverman performed a routine that is cringeworthy in 2020.

The comedian went on stage after Britney’s infamous Gimme More performance and said: ‘It’s weird to think that just a few years ago on this very show she was this, like, sweet, innocent, little girl in slutty clothes riding around with a python.’

She also referred to Britney’s kids as ‘mistakes.’

The clip was in the special and fans took aim at the comedian for her hurtful words.

Sarah responded to the criticism on Twitter.

‘I was known then 4 roasts. MTV asked me to mini-roast Britney after her big performance. While she was performing I was having diarrhea & going over my jokes. Had no idea she didn’t kill. Unfortunate. Art changes over yrs as we know more & the world changes.’

This isn’t the first time she’s received backlash over that set.

In 2007, she spoke to US Weekly about the criticism she was receiving.

‘The joke that everyone was upset about — me calling the kids ‘adorable mistakes’ — was the most innocuous joke. It never occurred to me that would be deemed hurtful or over the line. I don’t want to get into feuds with girls half my age. I’m in it to be funny and not for the drama. It’s embarrassing.’

Britney’s fans have been coming hard for other people that were featured or mentioned in the piece too.
