Teofimo Lopez's father and trainer Teofimo Lopez Sr has made a series of bizarre comments following his son's defeat to George Kambosos Jr on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old lightweight champion, who famously conquered Vasyl Lomachenko last year, was shockingly dethroned in his first defence by his unheralded Aussie challenger.

Kambosos floored Lopez in round one and made things difficult for him throughout.

The American battled back and scored a knockdown of his own in round ten.

With the fight in the balance, Kambosos Jr upped the tempo in the championship rounds and was awarded a split decision victory.

In between each round, Lopez Sr was heard telling his son he was winning and he maintained this view after the fight.

Lopez Sr told SecondsOut: "It was an easy fight for him and he won every round. To me, he won every round.

"You can give Kambosos two rounds, three rounds, even four rounds, but what happened to us was just horrible.

"I could not believe it."

He added: "Everybody knows he won that fight.

"Everybody was upset, they booed the decision in Madison Square Garden...

"It's a bulls*** loss. I should've never fought with DAZN, I should've stood with Top Rank because those are the people that really love us.

"We go back with Top Rank, two PPV fights next year and an ESPN fight."

When asked if there will be a second fight between the pair, Lopez Sr added: "No rematch man. My mistake was leaving my son at 135lbs so long.

"In this game you've gotta knock everybody out.

"If you don't knock them out, this is what happens.

"It was a complete robbery, we dictated the fight from the beginning.

"Everybody in the world knows what happened.

"We're gonna go up to 140lbs, get a fight in February and then fight Josh Taylor.

"We're still gonna do what we said we were gonna do, this doesn't change anything."
